When it Rains, it Pours Creativity

I love it when it rains and I can stay inside and write or read. I don’t know what it is about the rain. I always feel like my imagination gets a charge out of the rain – especially when it is a thunderstorm. There always seem to be endless possibilities when a creative outlet can be utilized while the outside does not seem to welcome your company.

I do enjoy playing in the rain, but that is not an “all of the time” type of thing. Playing in the rain does present its own set of possibilities. They generally include becoming head-to-toe drenched, which is completely okay. That is not something everyone enjoys, but some do. I have to be in the mood to be head-to-toe drenched, but it is fun from time to time.

From a literary standpoint, rain can symbolize quite a bit of things. One of those things is new life. Creativity creates new things; it gives life to something new. That could be anything for anyone. It could be any piece of art. The rain has its ways of impacting people.

Now when there is homework that needs to be completed and it rains… Unless it is a creative assignment, the rain brings out this “I don’t want to do anything” type of attitude. It makes life a little rough when there is a lot to be done. Thankfully this semester is packed with reading and creative assignments. So when it rains, I’ll get my work done.

Until next time… Kara
